Responsabilités clés
- Provide support to users on applications used across MUA's business units Participate in requirements gathering for new projects or system enhancements, working with business users and the project management team Design and develop in-house systems Write SQL scripts for ad-hoc reports/listings, and build new reports and dashboards per user specifications Train users and assist them in testing system changes Liaise with off-the-shelf application suppliers on enhancement requests and resolution of application issues/logs Produce technical and user documentation for new enhancements and projects Job Requirements Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent qualification 2 to 5 years of experience, including at least 2 years in software development and user support Core Skills Software development methodologies: Waterfall, Agile, Lean, etc. Front-end development: PHP, Angular, React, VB, VB.NET Back-end development: Python, FastAPI, PL/SQL, JavaScript Database design: Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, etc. Business Intelligence and dashboarding tools: Apache Superset, Power BI, etc. Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Project Desirable Skills Application deployment: Docker, CI/CD pipelines Application monitoring tools: Grafana, Prometheus AI technologies and frameworks: LLM, RAG, image processing, prompt fine-tuning, YOLO models, LayoutLM, LSTM, OCR extraction Robotic Process Automation tools (e.g.

The Business Applications Engineer is responsible for providing technical support on all applications used by entities within the MUA Group, including those in East Africa. The incumbent ensures the smooth running of these applications and delivers technical solutions, including performing changes to in-house systems — coding, quality testing, debugging, and deployment — in line with established guidelines. The role also involves documenting requirements, training users on new changes, and assisting them during testing. For off-the-shelf systems, the Engineer liaises with suppliers to ensure timely issue resolution and delivery of project tasks.
