The role

Tender and Contract Preparation: Draft tender documents, analyze tender costs, and prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) alongside architects or clients. Cost Estimation and Planning: Calculate material, labor, and equipment quantities through systematic take-offs from design drawings. Key responsibilities

• Accurate Take-offs — Measure material and labor requirements from architectural drawings without major errors.
• BOQ Verification — Cross-check the existing Bills of Quantities against actual site conditions to identify discrepancies early & record and quantify any changes made on-site compared to original contract.
• Interim Valuations & Subcontractor Claim — Prepare and submit monthly progress claims to the client for work completed & Evaluate monthly payment applications from subcontractors and certify the correct amounts
• Cost Reporting & Market Procurement — Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and cash flow forecasts for management. Source and analyze competitive quotes from local Mauritian suppliers for materials.
• Team Liaison — Coordinate closely with project managers, site engineers, and foremen to track delays or scope changes.

Goals & performance metrics

Speed with Software: Demonstrate proficiency in standard industry software like AutoCAD, Candy, or Excel. Familiarity with Local & International Standards: Apply Mauritian & International construction laws and standard methods of measurement correctly. Timely Reporting: Meet tight deadlines for monthly valuations, variations, and cost reports. Proactive Communication: Flag cost overruns or discrepancies early to project managers and directors.
