Secondary Accounting Teacher

Main mission

The Secondary Accounting Teacher will deliver engaging, well-structured Accounting lessons aligned with the Pearson Edexcel curriculum for secondary learners. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and preparing lessons, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate academic records. The teacher will support learners in developing strong analytical, and problem-solving skills, while fostering a positive classroom culture and promoting the school’s philosophy of holistic development. Collaboration with colleagues, participation in school events, and communication with parents and guardians are expected as part of the role. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Flacq, Mauritius.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Accounting lessons aligned with the curriculum and school standards.
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow), cost accounting basics, budgeting, internal controls, ethics, standards and integrate real-world scenarios.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learners and learning styles.
• Promote analytical thinking, accuracy, attention to detail, and ethical professional practice.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, grades, and student progress; provide timely feedback to students and parents.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment; model integrity, fairness, and professional conduct.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular projects (e.g., finance, economics, entrepreneurship) and align with the curriculum map.
• Supervise related extracurricular activities (e.g., accounting clubs, business competitions, young enterprise programs) if applicable.
