Company Description Imperium(L) is a specialist technology company that helps regulated financial institutions maintain visibility and control over customer and client money through reconciliation, safeguarding oversight, exception management, and regulatory reporting. For more than 12 years, its technology has operated in high-volume regulated environments and is developed, owned, and maintained entirely in-house, providing a dependable and transparent platform without third-party dependency or unnecessary complexity. The company focuses on payments, e-money, and investment firms that require precise oversight and robust evidence of compliance. Its core product, Imperium(L) Prism, is a regulatory-grade operational control platform that unifies safeguarding, reconciliation, exception management, evidence, and regulatory reporting in a single audit-ready environment. Imperium(L) enables regulated firms to move from periodic reconciliation to a continuous operational control framework that delivers visibility, accountability, and evidence across the customer money lifecycle. About The Role Imperium(L) is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to take ownership of our cloud infrastructure and improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. The role supports strengthening internal control of our AWS environment while scaling our application effectively. You’ll work on a production system using AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, VPC), Docker, Python (Flask), React, and MongoDB. You’ll play a key role in infrastructure management, deployment automation, and system optimisation, including the infrastructure behind the AI capabilities we are building into the platform. What you’ll need • 2+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps / Cloud Engineering • Strong experience with AWS services (ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch) • Experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (ECS or Kubernetes) • Solid understanding of networking (VPC, subnets, security groups, NAT gateways) • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar) • Strong understanding of system monitoring, logging, and alerting • Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows • Some exposure to AI in a technical context, whether that's AWS AI services (Bedrock, SageMaker), integrating model APIs into an application, or using AI tooling. What You’ll Do: • Take ownership of our AWS infrastructure and environments (dev, preprod, prod) • Audit and optimise cloud architecture (cost, performance, scalability) • Manage and improve ECS services, Lambda functions, and deployment pipelines • Identify and eliminate infrastructure inefficiencies (e.g. unused resources, high-cost components) • Strengthen security, IAM policies, and access control • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployments • Collaborate with backend and frontend teams to improve system performance • Lead infrastructure documentation and knowledge transfer • Apply AI tooling to your own work where it makes us faster, without compromising review standards or auditability Nice To Have: • Serverless architecture and event-driven systems • MongoDB / DocumentDB or other NoSQL databases • Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.) • Scaling high-traffic production systems • Cost optimisation strategies in AWS • Running AI/ML workloads on AWS including cost and performance management • Supporting AI-enabled features in production (LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, vector search, embedding stores) • Confident use of AI-assisted development tooling (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) for IaC, scripting, and documentation Who you are: • Strong problem-solver with an ownership mindset • Comfortable taking full responsibility of infrastructure • Able to challenge existing architecture and propose improvements • Clear communicator across technical and non-technical teams • Focused on building scalable, efficient, and maintainable systems • Curious about where AI genuinely adds value — and pragmatic about where it doesn't Why Join Us This is an opportunity to take real ownership of a production AWS environment, influence architecture decisions, and directly impact the efficiency and scalability of our platform. You will also help shape how AI is adopted both in the product and in how we build in a regulated environment where accuracy, evidence, and auditability actually matter. That's a more interesting problem than adding AI for its own sake, and you will have a direct hand in solving it.
